Karla Mia Kristo, PharmD is a pharmacist with expertise as an Ambulatory Care Clinical Pharmacist focused on optimizing patient outcomes and managing chronic disease including but not limited to diabetes, hypertension and congestive heart failure.

Dr. Kristo’s training includes PGY-1 General Pharmacy Practice Residency training at Hackensack University Medical Center in Hackensack, NJ. She also has a Teaching Certificate from Ernesto Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers, The State University, New Brunswick, NJ and training in additional skills.

Dr. Kristo’s approach to patient care is to “treat patients the same way you would treat your family and loved ones. This includes core values such as empathy, integrity and respect”, she says. Most important during a patient visit is to make sure the patient feels heard. Listening is one of the most important tasks you can do as a healthcare provider to ensure their needs and goals are met, according to Dr. Kristo.

She enjoys meeting people from all walks of life and equipping them with the knowledge and tools to take ownership and improve their quality of life. Additionally, she likes working closely and collaborating with other healthcare colleagues, allowing improved patient care based on layered expertise.

When not working, Dr. Kristo enjoys traveling, hanging out with her puppy Levi, and tennis.
