Marissa Maddalena, PA-C, is a member of the Summit Health Nephrology team. Her life experiences drew her to pursue a career in healthcare and inspired her to care for others.

In her role, Marissa works with patients suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and those in End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) undergoing hemodialysis. She helps patients manage their blood pressure and diabetes to slow the progression of their CKD. Once on dialysis, she manages their fluid status, electrolyte imbalances, anemia, nutrition, and metabolic bone disease.

Ms. Maddalena strongly believes in the power of education in patient care. She says, “An educated patient is more likely to be a compliant patient. I give thorough explanations so that the patient understands the problem and the solution.” What brings her the most joy in her work is connecting with patients and achieving successful outcomes.

Outside of work, Ms. Maddalena is a devoted mother to her two beautiful girls. They enjoy spending time together at the playground, zoo, and playing princesses.
