Yilda Mayo, MD, is a member of Summit Health’s Pediatric team. Drawn to the sciences and the human body from a young age, Dr. Mayo has always been passionate about supporting the healthy development of children, both mentally and physically. As a pediatrician, she specializes in the health and medical care of infants through adolescence. From routine checkups and vaccinations to developmental screenings and the diagnosis of illnesses, Dr. Mayo is there to ensure overall children's wellness.

Dr. Mayo’s philosophy centers on family-centered care. She believes in creating open communication and trust with families to create a safe space where both children and parents can feel comfortable asking questions and receiving guidance. “Preventive care with discussions on healthy habits and disease prevention, as well as addressing any parental concerns, is most important to me during a visit,” she says.

What Dr. Mayo enjoys most about her work is being surrounded by families and seeing children grow. She finds being a pediatrician incredibly rewarding as it allows her to support and build long-term relationships with families in her community. “Being able to help children thrive and overcome health challenges is what drives me every day,” she says.

Outside of her work, Dr. Mayo is a dedicated mom who loves taking her kids to their different sports events and being her family's cheerleader. She also enjoys cooking, baking, and experimenting with new recipes. She is particularly passionate about mental health awareness and early childhood development, encouraging early intervention, and reducing stigma around mental health in children.
