Concetta Nono MSW, LCSW, pursued a career in healthcare after experiencing a significant loss in her life. It was during this time, that she realized how difficult it can be to navigate the healthcare system without the proper supports. Having an ongoing interest in social work and healthcare, Mrs. Nono recognized it would be beneficial to be able to provide patients and families going through an illness assistance via integrated behavioral health services.

Mrs. Nono’s area of expertise is treating oncology patients who are experiencing a cancer diagnosis and feel like they could benefit from therapy during their treatment and survivorship. “I provide therapeutic interventions that give patients tools that aid them in their thinking, behaviors, offer a sense of comfort, and normalize the array of fluctuating emotions they are enduring”, she says.

In addition, she finds hospice care as well as oncology particularly rewarding because it provides her with the privilege to extensively help patients and their families in their most vulnerable and intimate moments of their life. She also has a significant background in bereavement and working with caregivers.

Having empathy toward everyone she treats is Mrs. Nono’s approach to patient care. Cancer has touched everyone in some shape or form, and she wants her patients and their families to feel seen and heard while withstanding these difficult times.

Further, she feels fortunate to have the ability to witness the resilience of the human spirit, she admires how patients and families display such strength, courage, and grace during such challenging and uncertain times. Mrs. Nono is also especially passionate about ensuring that individuals live meaningful lives no matter what limitations their health has placed on them.

When not seeing patients, Mrs. Nono enjoys spending time with her family and traveling. Ms. Nono is currently accepting referrals from Summit Health Oncology.
