Neelam Upadhyaya, MD is an Endocrinologist who is part of the Summit Health Endocrinology team. Dr. Upadhyaya’s expertise is treating patients from young adulthood to those older in age with a variety of endocrinology problems ranging from the more common issues such as diabetes and thyroid problems to rarer adrenal and pituitary issues. She has a special interest in diabetes management as well as women’s health.

Her approach to patient care is to “make sure the patient understands their pathology and the tests we order so they are able to be champions of their own health”, she says. Most important to Dr. Upadhyaya during a patient visit is for the patient to understand their condition and feel empowered and supported to take charge of their care. She mostly enjoys the daily interactions with patients and getting to know them over time.

When not practicing medicine, Dr. Upadhyaya loves spending time with family and friends exploring new restaurants as well as yoga and hiking. She is also passionate about quality care for our patients struggling with diabetes and obesity. She would like to educate the community about healthy lifestyles for diabetes and cardiovascular prevention, including diet and exercising.
