Dr. Emaad Iqbal, MD, is a member of Summit Health's General Surgery team. He is deeply committed to helping patients understand their disease, providing surgical treatment, and supporting his patients through recovery.

Dr. Iqbal trained in General Surgery at Columbia University, treating patients with a wide variety of abdominal and broader surgical pathologies. He is well equipped to handle problems related to the gallbladder, small intestine, appendix, and colon. Patients with renal failure who choose peritoneal dialysis can also turn to him for the insertion, maintenance, and troubleshooting of their peritoneal dialysis catheters. He has a passion for abdominal wall reconstruction, using surgery to treat patients who suffer from inguinal and ventral hernias. His approach uses advanced minimally invasive techniques, both robotic and laparoscopic, that reduce pain and speed up recovery. He also offers both in-person and telemedicine visits for the comfort and convenience of his patients.

In his professional career he has been selected for the Thomas C King Education Fellowship and served as the Chief Resident of Education during his final year of residency at Columbia University. His research work spans the areas of hernia repair, telemedicine, and surgical education. He currently sits on national committees focused on improving surgical training and health advocacy.

Dr. Iqbal believes in prioritizing the patient experience. He ensures his patients understand their disease process and the options available to them. His goal is to empower each patient to make the decision that best fits into their lives. He understands and values the trust patients place in him by choosing him to be their surgeon.

Outside of his professional life, Dr. Iqbal enjoys skiing, cooking, and spending time with his family. He is also passionate about medical education and patient advocacy.
